What goes around, comes around

My sister and I love the challenge of finding something new and unique during our market trips.  However, at times something old can actually be something new.  The resurgence of the spoon ring, that was once very popular in the 60's and 70's, intrigued us very much.  Especially when we came across one artist in particular.  She only uses pre-1950s flatware because "they just don't make it as well now as they once did".  It also conveys the vintage feel that coordinates with the rest of her work.  And who doesn't wonder what amazing story or history is behind each piece of flatware.  Sometimes you are just lucky enough to pick out one that has the perfect placement of the year or collection name still engraved on the band.

What's even more exciting about this treasure from our last market trip, is that it's not limited to just rings anymore.  Now you can choose from spoon rings, fork bracelets, key chains that hang on your purse for easy access, and even a fork easel that is perfect for recipe cards or small items for display.  For me, jewelry with a new spin but still a bit of rustic charm always satisfies both the need to be a little cutting edge and the comfort of tradition and familiarity.

Hooked on Hooks

We ♥ hooks!  It's probably the most functional piece of home decor around.  The uses and design options are unlimited.  A collection of eclectic hooks on the wall can become art itself.  Here's our Top 8 reasons we are hooked on hooks!
  1. Mudroom/entryway - perfect for keys, jackets, backpacks, purses or items to grab on your way out the door
  2. Bathroom - hang your robes, towels, and even a bag of the kids' tub toys
  3. Kitchen - keep your towels, potholders, pots and pans, and favorite coffee mug handy
  4. Outside - garden tools & hanging plants; don't forget poolside for those towels
  5. Closet - organize your closet by hanging your ties, scarves, belts, and even jewelry in those unused spaces
  6. Curtains/drapes - forget the curtain rod; use beautiful hooks to hang your window coverings
  7. Artwork - instead of a boring old nail, add a hook and hang your artwork from  ribbon or cording
  8. Holiday stockings - don't have a mantle?  Hang your stockings from a hook instead

Chef Al is the Perfect Invitation

Searching for the perfect invite?

We had a customer visit last week who was looking for the perfect invite for an engagement party.  This is Southwest Louisiana so you can bet that Gumbo was on the menu.  The invite couldn't be too stuffy or formal.  It had to be fun.

We found the perfect one.  It was an alligator chef (Chef Al) cooking a gumbo.  That is guaranteed to stick out in the mail and be remembered.
